Part number for Ambient Light Sensor in Blinky POV

Part number for Ambient Light Sensor in Blinky POV

Could you provide a part number for the ambient light sensor in the Blinky POV? I don't know that much about light sensors and would like to look at the datasheet of the part you use. They look like LEDs, but they aren't, right?

Thanks,

Yeah sure, no problem. We've got no secrets here :- ) I will make a note to add the interesting parts' numbers to the parts list page in the very near future, but for now, here's the info on the light sensor:

It's a 3mm LED-like package of the TEPT4400 made by Vishay Semiconductors. Here are the Mouser and Digikey product pages.

They act like light-sensitive resistors, where they have very low resistance when exposed to a bright light up close, and have a higher resistance when it's dark (I may have that reversed, check the datasheet). We form a simple resistor-divider with the light sensor and a 10k resistor, connected like this:

Vdd ------ light sensor ----- analog input pin ----- resistor ---- ground

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks! Your web-based programmer looks really cool. I saw a YouTube video on one of my RSS feeds.
